Trou aux Cerfs (a dormant volcano)

Trou aux Cerfs is a dormant volcano located in Curepipe village. Its crater size is around 300-350 meters in diameter and is 80 meters deep.

From the view point you can have a magnificent view of Curepipe village, the Rempart mountain, Trois Mamelles mountain and the Port Louis-Moka mountain range. The crater in itself being dormant for nearly 750000 years now, is now covered by giant green pine trees and indigenous plant species In the center of the crater there is a small lake. Trou aux Cerfs is a good starting point for your Scenic south tour

Ganga Talao lake, a sacred lake for Hindus

Ganga Talao is a crater lake situated in a secluded mountain area in the district of Savanne, deep in the heart of Mauritius.

It is about 1800 feet above sea level and is considered the sacred lake for Hindus The Ganga Talao lake is one of the rare natural lakes in Mauritius that is formed inside the crater of an extinct volcano.

Black River Gorges National Park

Black River Gorges National Park was proclaimed on June 15, 1994 and is managed by the National Parks and Conservation Service

The Black River Gorges National Park is the largest protected forest of Mauritius, providing over 50 km of trails. It is home to many endemic plants and animals including the Mauritian flying fox, the Kestrel bird, the Pink pigeon.

Rhumerie Chamarel

Perched 300 meters above the coast of South West Mauritius, the Rhumerie de Chamarel lies in a fertile valley influenced by its own micro-climate. A truly unique tourist attraction, it encompasses a distillery and an agricultural plantation on an eco-friendly estate

One of the distillery’s strong points is that it was designed to provide a holistic tourism experience to guests. Mauritian architect Maurice Giraud has created a building that blends harmoniously with the spectacular surroundings.

Another strong point of the distillery is that it was created to produce the finest rum

Chamarel 7 colored earth

The Seven Coloured Earths are a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel plain of the Rivière Noire District in south-western Mauritius It is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow)

The sands formed from the decomposition of volcanic rock (basalt) gullies into clay, further transformed into ferralitic soil by total hydrolysis; the two main elements of the resulting soil, iron and aluminium, are responsible for red/anthracite and blue/purplish colours respectively.

Tour ends and drop back to hotel

Chamarel is the last stop in your tour and after the visit at Chamarel you will be returned back to the hotel.

You are scheduled to return back to the hotel at around 1730 depending on your hotel location

  • This itinerary has a quite a few winding roads. Please prepare some medication if you think you might suffer from car sickness.
