Aapravasi Ghat

In the district of Port Louis, lies the 1,640 m2 site where the modern indentured labour diaspora began. In 1834, the British Government selected the island of Mauritius to be the first site for what it called ‘the great experiment’ in the use of ‘free’ labour to replace slaves.

Between 1834 and 1920, almost half a million indentured labourers arrived from India at Aapravasi Ghat to work in the sugar plantations of Mauritius, or to be transferred to Reunion Island, Australia, southern and eastern Africa or the Caribbean

The Mauritius Natural History Museum is the oldest museum of Mauritius and has 4 sections namely the Fauna Gallery, the Marine Life Gallery, Insects & Giant Tortoise Gallery and The World of the Dodo.

A museum worth visiting when you are in Port Louis, it is also one of the rara places where one can see an almost complete skelleton of the extinct dodo

Central Market

The central market of Port Louis also knows as the main bazaar is one of the most crowded place in Mauritius A walk in the market will allow you to experience the authentic Mauritian way of living with its mixture of cultures and varieties of products in display.

From exotic fresh fish to vegetables, tshirts, saris, handicrafts, the Central market is a good place to find some good bargains

China Town

Your final stop will be in china town, a place worth exploring by foot.

The China Town area runs for about 500 meters along the well-known 'Rue Royale' in Port Louis. It is a true cultural heritage for Mauritius

Tour Ends

After your 30 minutes visit of China town, you will make your way back to the hotel.

You are scheduled to return back to the hotel at around 1700 depending on your hotel location.
